I love this quote. I found it a little while ago and it’s kind of stuck with me ever since. In fact, today, as I was pondering what to write about I stumbled upon this quote again – so I made the picture above.

You need to know that my graphic design skills are basic at best, but I have a bit of a passion for good design (hence the constantly changing blog layouts). The problem is that, whilst I like to think I have a good eye for what looks good, I am just no good at achieving it. This bothers me.

Reading this quote again inspired me to practice. It’s not about the fact that my graphic design skills are minimal, because I have all the time in the world to get better. I will get better. The truth is that this small, basic image will have taken me infinitely longer than those of you who are adept at this kind of design. In fact, you’ve probably seen countless flaws in it, but that’s ok. I made it myself and I’m proud of it regardless of its quality. Don’t get me wrong, music is my first love; my passion; my career even. This is just a fun secondary hobby. Hopefully I’ll improve as time goes on – judge me by the destination I’m aiming for, not the place on which I currently stand. As ever, I have a long way to go!

This post is an encouragement to keep pushing yourself in whatever you’re doing. How good do you want to be? Don’t give up on that vision. You have the capacity to be all that you choose to be. It’s not about how good you are, it’s about how good you want to be. Keep going!
